At Nash Farm, the historic continuously working farmstead in Tarrant County, you can experience hands-on 19th-century farm life.
If you happen to be traveling with the kiddos you will find activities that suit the whole family. At the center of it all is Grapevine Mills mall, with over 165,000 square meters of retail shops, a movie theater, bowling alley/arcade, and over 30 restaurants. Inside you will find LEGOLAND Discovery Center, perfect for the little ones. Tour LEGO factory and let them meet their favorite characters, there is also a replica of the city of Grapevine made entirely of LEGOS. Also inside the mall is SEA LIFE Aquarium, yes, and aquarium inside a mall! Home to thousands of marine animals and a sea turtle rescue center. If outdoor activities are what you seek head to Lake Grapevine for water sports, hiking, camping, and a floating water park. If you happen to be visiting during the holidays, Grapevine is known as the “Christmas Capital of Texas” with over 1,400 events during the holiday season attracting families from all over DFW. Starting in the week of Thanksgiving, activities include Handblown Glass, Ornament Workshop, the annual Parade of Lights, a caroling concert, and the most amazing illuminated boat parade.
EAT, DRINK AND SLEEP
Texas is one of the largest wine producers in the USA. Shocked? Sample some of the state’s best on Grapevine’s Urban Wine Trail. A variety of winery tasting rooms serve the state’s most delicious red and white wines and host themed events all year. When it’s time to eat you will find plenty to choose from. Old West Cafe is an amazing breakfast/lunch spot with a generous menu as well as Texas-sized portions to boot. But get there early there is always a line and they are only open until 2 pm. If it’s a fine dining experience you seek you must try Old Hickory located inside Gaylord Texas Resort and Convention Center, they serve amazing locally sourced menu items as well as authentic Japanese Wagu. The menu is always changing to ensure the freshest of ingredients, it is a must-try. Accommodations are not hard to come by in Grapevine from boutique inns, select-service hotels, and resorts. There are however two stand-out options Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center with 2,184 rooms, a spa, restaurants, and bars, activities for the kids as well as a night club on property, Glass Cactus sitting on Lake Grapevine with some amazing views. Great Wolf Lodge is another option that caters to the kiddos with an indoor water park, scavenger hunt, and much more.
